JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three men and a teenager were taken into custody Thursday after a police pursuit of a stolen car ended in a crash on McDuff Avenue that left one person injured, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The car, which was reported stolen in a carjacking Monday, was spotted about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, and police attempted to pull it over in the Murray Hill area.
A short pursuit ended in a crash after the stolen car ran a red light at Rosselle Street and McDuff Avenue and hit two vehicles. An occupant of one of those vehicles was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The four suspects -- 19-year-old James Bullard, 18-year-old Ja'mel Bullard, 23-year-old Adrian Bradshaw and an unidentified juvenile -- ran from the crash scene and were tracked down within about 30 minutes by officers and K-9 officers, police said.
“One was located at a residence nearby and some witnesses in that area helped direct us to some of the suspects," JSO Lt. Justin Wilson said.
According to the arrest reports, James Bullard and the teen were caught after foot chases, Ja'mel Bullard was caught after he was hit by a stun gun and Bradshaw was arrested at gunpoint.
The Bullards, who are brothers, have been charged with leaving the scene of a crash. Ja'mel Bullard is charged with resisting an officer without violence and trespassing. James Bullard is also charged with fleeing police, dealing in stolen property and resisting an officer.
Bradshaw is charged with resisting police and trespassing.
Wilson admitted the incident could have been much worse had a bystander or driver been seriously hurt or killed during the chase, but he also said that the chase was warranted.
“We have a pursuit policy that we strictly follow," Wilson said. "And this being a felony vehicle, we will pursue that vehicle as long as conditions allow it.”
