Police: Teen dies after shooting at Northside apartment complex No description found
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 17-year-old has died after being shot Friday morning at an apartment complex on Jacksonville's Northside.
Police are searching for the person who pulled the trigger and killed DeQual Anthony Smiley.
Police said they were called about 8:30 a.m. Friday to the Canopy Creek Apartments on Harts Road and found Smiley with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
Police said they're not sure if a crashed vehicle near the shooting was involved in any way, but they're investigating the possibility.
K-9 teams could be seen along Harts Road looking for any evidence that might have been dropped but the shooter, who ran from the scene, police said.
