Police arrest man wanted for sexual battery

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Law enforcement officials in Alachua County have arrested a man wanted for sexual battery on Friday.

Investigators say 32-year-old Tjamal Peterson argued with the victim and left her home, but then returned and climbed in through a window while she was asleep.

The woman told police she woke up with Peterson on top of her, choking her. She said when she tried to fight back, he put his knee on her neck and sexually battered her, then fled the scene.

Peterson is charged committing domestic battery by strangulation which is a third-degree felony. He is also charged with sexual assault on a victim 12 years of age or older under special conditions, which is a first-degree felony. A judge set his bond at $500,000.
