President, CEO of Memorial Hospital to retire from position

Jim O'Loughlin will continue serving in Jacksonville area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After five years leading the team at Memorial Hospital, Chief Executive Officer and President Jim O’Loughlin is retiring from his position, the hospital said Monday.

O’Loughlin has served a long career in health care administration.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to lead Memorial Hospital and work with an exceptional team of health care professionals who are dedicated to the organization’s mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care to the people whose lives we touch every day,” O’Loughlin said. “While I will miss each and every member of the team, I am confident that Memorial Hospital will continue to improve patients’ lives on a daily basis.”

Under O’Loughlin’s leadership, the organization achieved a large number of notable accomplishments, including the addition of an in-patient pediatric unit, a pediatric intensive care unit and emergency pediatric services, the opening of three free-standing ERs and a renovation of the main ER, just to name a few.

Memorial also became the first hospital in the region to introduce a prescription medication kiosk, called Rx to Go.

It’s obvious O’Loughlin has led the team during a time of immense growth for Northeast Florida and the healthcare community. He will continue to be active in Jacksonville, where he serves on several boards, hospital officials said.

O’Loughlin also will teach health administration courses at local universities.
