River taxi captain arrested for DUI

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The operations director for the new company that runs the St. Johns River taxis was arrested for DUI property damage Dec. 29.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrest report, Capt. Ron Hilliard crashed into a parked truck on Riverside Avenue after leaving the Mellow Mushroom restaurant. He had run up a $450 bar tab with friends, according to the report, and made several expletive-laced admissions to officers saying he'd had six to seven beers.

During his field sobriety test, Hilliard "displayed multiple clues of impairment," according to the report.

Hilliard also had a DUI in 2011 that was pleaded out to reckless driving.
