GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A man has died after being shot in the Holly Heights neighborhood in Gainesville, Sunday evening, according the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting was called in at 7:11 p.m. to the sheriff's office. Deputies found a man, identified as Derrick Devante Smith, 24, shot on the ground in the neighborhood on Southwest 67th Terrace.Smith later died at UF Health Gainesville.

According to detectives, the gunman is on the run, but were unable to provide a description of the suspect.
