The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will not be directly involved in the work of these task forces, but benefit from their information and suggestions.

"This is an opportunity for us to have some connection with the community and listen in this format in this task-force environment, listen to what they have to say and create some actionable recommendations that we can put into place," Williams said. "That can make us better and help us have a better connection with the community."

The task force meetings will be advertised to the public. Williams expects their work will take six to nine months.
