Tim Tebow buys $1.4M Southside home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tim Tebow has bought a house on Jacksonville's Southside.

According to Channel 4 news partner the Financial News and Daily Record, the former Florida Gators and NFL quarterback paid $1.4 million for a 6,500 square foot home in Glen Kernan Golf and Country Club.

Fans who have lobbied for Tebow's return are excited about the news.

"I'm just happy he's back in Florida. I think he's a great individual. He adds a lot to the community here. I think he'll be a great leader," said Brian Petty.

Tebow purchased the five bedroom, 4½ bathroom home located on Swilcan Bridge Lane from David and Virginia Bailey.

The sale closed June 27 and was recorded Monday.

His new neighbors have mixed reactions about the new star moving in next door.
"I'm from Kentucky, so I don't really think anything about it," said Colt Sells. "I'm a Kentucky fan, not a Florida fan."

"I think he's great. I think he's what Jacksonville needs," said Tebow's new neighbor, Gwen Peterson.

"I wish the Jaguars would bring him on, but you can always make more money as a business person than you can as a football player," Petty said.

It's still unclear when Tebow will move in.

Tebow has also bought into the PDQ restaurant franchise in Jacksonville with his brother.
