JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A resident on Jacksonville's Westside is upset after the Donald Trump campaign signs in his lawn were vandalized twice in the last two months.
James Randle told News4Jax Thursday that he's not sure who vandalized his signs, but his surveillance cameras captured a teenager tearing apart the signs in his yard.
"Circled through the driveway and then parked his mini-bike and then came over here and kicked and stomped on the signs," Randle said. "I didn't have my cameras focused on this to begin with, but after the first time it happened, I refocused my cameras so it would pick up the sign."
Though it's a controversial campaign season, Randle said, he didn't expect for his Trump supporter signs to be destroyed.
"He disrespects the neighbor, his neighbors and the neighborhood by destroying other's property," Randle said. "These are kids and undoubtedly they are hearing stuff at home or they are hearing it from other people (who are) influencing them to do this kind of stuff."
Randle said he's not the only one who has had his signs ruined.
"Trump headquarters told me this has been a real problem. My brother lives on the Ortega River and they destroyed his Trump sign recently, so I just brought him a new sign," Randle said.
He hopes the incidents will serve as a lesson to others. Randle also posted a letter on top of the mangled signs with two surveillance images for everyone to see.
"I hate for these kids to be brought up with the thought that they can destroy somebody's property or do something even worse," Randle said.
Randle said he reported the incidents to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, but he does not wish to press charges. He said an apology would go a long way and he hopes the teen's parents will get him on the right path.
