UF professor arrested for sex crimes

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A University of Florida religious studies professor is accused of sex crimes charges in Alachua County.

Manuel Vasquez was arrested Friday on two charges. The first charge is for video voyeurism. The second charge is for possessing obscene material that depicts child sex conduct.

A spokesperson for the University of Florida tells News4Jax Vasquez has been placed on administrative leave without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.

News4Jax is awaiting an arrest report from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office that we hope will give us more details about Vasquez's arrest.
