Officials said that Griman was with a young boy and a man and left the store in a white or tan Cadillac Escalade with New York tags.

According to sheriff's deputies a witness saw the suspected vehicle and called St. Johns County sheriff's deputies who followed the vehicle to a Flying J gas station on S.R. 206.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found the parrot, which deputies said was worth $600, sitting on the front passenger seat.

Griman was booked into the St. Johns County Jail for grand theft and the parrot was safely returned to the pet store.
