JACKSONVILLE -

A winter sport is coming to some warmer weather. Jacksonville has been selected to host the 2016 USA Curling National Championships.

The weeklong event is set for February 6 through the 13th of 2016. It will feature the top 20 men's and women's team competing for a chance to represent team USA at the world championships.

"We extend a warm welcome to a cool sport," said Jacksonville mayor Alvin Brown in a statement. "Jacksonville has become a premier venue and destination for a wide range of sporting events, and we're honored to have the 2016 Curling National Championships in our city. We look forward to hosting America's top curling teams, as well as their fans from far and wide."

This is the first time a curling national championship will be held in Florida.
