Miami Hurricanes stadium construction may not be finished for FSU game

Florida State 13, Miami 10 - Boxscore

Due to ongoing stadium improvements to the Hurricanes home field, Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, their game with Florida State on October 8th is in jeopardy of having to be moved to another location.

The main tenants of the stadium, the Miami Dolphins have already moved a preseason game to Orlando due to construction at the stadium looking like it will not be finished in time.  Rumors surrounding Miami having to move their home opener against Florida A&M to FAU have been refuted by Hurricanes athletic director Blake James.  However, he said things do change and contingency plans are being put in place.

Officials at the University of Miami do not want to move the game because the Seminoles coming to town is the biggest money making home game of the season.  That, and moving the game to Orlando for instance, would mean a lot more FSU fans in the stands than if it were played in South Florida.

The Florida State vs. Miami game has been played on a neutral site only once in the history of the rivalry in the 2003 Orange Bowl.
