Jaguars sign free agent CB from Canadian Football League

Josh Johnson played for the B.C. Lions for the past two seasons

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars today announced the signing of first-year CB Josh Johnson to a free agent contract. He is now a part of the team’s 90-man offseason roster.

Johnson, 5-10, 200, most recently played for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Over the past two seasons, Johnson totaled 100 tackles and three interceptions in 34 games. After going undrafted in 2013, Johnson signed with the San Diego Chargers before being released prior to the regular season.

Johnson, 25, attended Purdue University where he was an honorable mention All-Big Ten performer in 2012. He started 36 of 49 games for the Boilermakers and totaled 184 tackles (149 solo), 31 pass breakups and six INTs. A native of Dade City, Fla., Johnson attended Pasco High School where he was a first-team All-Sun Coast and All-Sunshine Athletic Conference performer.
