Mayor Lenny Curry tweeted Wednesday that the city will celebrate the Lady Trojans at 3 p.m. Tuesday downtown and will "paint the town blue."

An online petition is also asking the White House to honor the Ribault High School Lady Trojans basketball team for winning a national championship.

The petition, posted Monday on the White House web site, had 75 signatures as of Wednesday afternoon. The goal is to get 100,000 signatures by May 4.
