UNF Police asking for help finding missing student

Student last seen at campus apartment at 2 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida Police Department is asking for the public's help Sunday finding a missing student.

George Louissaint Jr., 20, was last seen at the UNF Flats apartments at early Sunday morning, officials said.

Family members said Louissaint was at a party and it was broken up by police. He was seen running towards a wooded area, and hasn't been seen since.

"According to his friend, they were here at the Flats at a party until 3 o'clock (a.m.), until the party was broken down due to the amount of liquor,"  said Louissaint's father, George Louissaint Sr.  "At 6 o'clock (a.m.) when we didn't hear from him, by 8:30 (a.m.) I thought it was due diligence to drive down and find out what's going on."

Louissant was last seen at 2 a.m. and spoke to his sister on the phone about an hour later. His family said nothing indicated anything was wrong. His parents have tried calling his cell phone, but it goes straight to voicemail.

'He would've called someone," Ana Louissaint, George Louissant's mother, said. "He would've called someone to pick him up; he has nobody here except for his roommate that I know."

The JSO dive team, along with UNF police searched the path they believe he may have taken from the wooded area to the retention ponds along the way out of precaution. His family doesn’t think he ran at all.

"My son will not even walk a mile," Louissaint Sr. said. "Even if he did walk it, somebody had to pick him up."

HIs family said his apartment is less than a mile away from where the party was, and it's just how he left it with money sitting on the dresser. His roommate also hasn't heard from him.

Louissaint was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call university police at (904) 620-2800, or the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500.
