The crash happened about 3:40 p.m. as Baird was driving his Ford Fusion north on I-95. A Ford F-150, driven by 46-year-old Derrick Butler, was stopped in the right emergency lane, troopers said.

According to the report, Baird skidded into the emergency lane and hit the guardrail, spinning clockwise before hitting the back of Butler's truck.

Troopers said charges are pending, but alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Baird was wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
