I-95 S reopens following bus fire near St Johns border

Cause of fire is unknown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Southbound lanes of I-95 near Old St. Augustine Road were closed for hours after the back of a bus burst into flames, early Sunday morning.

Investigators said the bus was traveling south when the driver noticed the vehicle's gauges acting irregularly. The driver pulled over and opened the back of the bus to find a small fire.

The driver evacuated all 26 passengers and attempted to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, according to troopers. The flames spread to the rest of the bus.

No injuries were reported. Another bus was called to take the passengers and driver to a safe location.
