Train hits car in San Marco

Driver of car arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested for DUI early Saturday morning after his car was hit by a train in San Marco.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash around 4:50 a.m. where a car stalled on train tracks was struck by a train.

When officers arrived, the driver, who was visibly impaired, told them he was not in the car when the train struck it.
Officers said the train had almost come to a complete stop before hitting the car. As a result, the car was minimally damaged.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of DUI and multiple traffic offenses, officers said.
