Governor Rick Scott dispatched the convoy on Wednesday to help in recovery efforts from the more than 20 inches of snow that blanketed the city last weekend.

All of the deployed dump trucks are wrapped with a message for D.C.'s snow-covered residents and business owners to "visit Florida."
"Florida is glad to help Washington, D.C. dig out from the snow I have seen on my visit here this week," Governor Scott said.
The trucks came from northwest, northeast and central Florida.
“Coordinating assistance for Washington, D.C. provides a great opportunity to test the flexibility of our resources and methods," said Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Bryan Koon. "While snowstorms are something we wouldn’t typically expect here in Florida, we are always willing to lend a helping hand to our northern neighbors.”
31 state employees are traveling to D.C. to help with snow removal.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management is coordinating the relief effort in response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request issued from D.C. Through this mutual aid agreement, the aid will not be paid for by Florida tax dollars.
