2016 best year ever for Jacksonville tourism

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – December marked the 38th consecutive month of revenue growth for lodging in Duval County, according to VisitJacksonville. It also marked the first time ever that every month in a calendar year had a reported occupancy over 60 percent.

The Jacksonville and Beaches tourist bureau estimated that 6,214,918 overnight guests stayed in Duval County paid accommodations, a 4.3 percent growth over 2015 data, and 6.5 percent growth over 2014.

"We plan on working even harder to make 2017 even more successful," VisitJacksonville said in a news release.
