Pet Pradise needs dog and cat food donations

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Pet Paradise Resort needs help feeding pets of families who are struggling this year. Its 7th annual Food for Paws Pet Food Drive is happening right now. Your food donation will help 13 pet food banks and many pet owners.

Many senior citizens who live on a fixed income, struggle to feed his/her pet. Their pet, is often their only companion. Many of them frequently make a decision whether to feed themselves or their animal.

"Pet owners will sometimes feed them human food since they can't afford to buy food, which is bad for the animal and takes food away from the household," explained Michelle Barth with Feeding Northeast Florida.

Pet Paradise has teamed up with Feeding Northeast Florida so the donated pet food can be distributed to households through its food distribution network.

"Families who donate 20 pounds or more of pet food will receive one free night of boarding at any pet Paradise," said Lisa Tarr, with Pet Paradise.

There are two Pet Paradise locations in Jacksonville: 14272 Pecan Park Road, on the Northside, and 5140 University Blvd., on the Southside. There is also a location in St. Augustine: 125 Ponce Harbor Drive.

They request donations by Dec. 31.
