JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Since Jacksonville Beach lifeguards say the biggest problem they face is lost children, they will begin giving out ID bracelets that give the child's name, parent's and lifeguard station's phone numbers.
The American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps says that with thousands of visitors and many distractions, children can easily get separated from their parents.

To help combat the problem, lifeguards in Saturday will begin a pilot project, giving out the bracelets at the main station where Beach Boulevard meets the beach.
If a lost child wearing he bracelet is found, he or she should be taken to the nearest lifeguard stand. If the parent doesn't answer the phone, lifeguards will take the child to the lifeguard station to get further assistance.
Lifeguards say their goal is to reduce the number of lost children and decrease the time lost children remain lost by allowing easy identification and early access to vital information.
