SUV catches fire after crash on 103rd Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An SUV caught fire Monday morning after a colliding with a pest control truck that turned into its path on 103rd Street.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just after 10 a.m. near the intersection with Samaritan Way, where Bishop Snyder High School is located.

Troopers said Kimaya Gornick, 35, was turning from Samaritan Way onto 103rd in her SUV when she was struck by a westbound pickup truck. The driver of the truck, Brady Gordon, 30, was cited for running a red light. 

Gornick was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with minor injuries. A passenger in the SUV and Gordon also had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The accident was cleared and all lanes of traffic on 103rd Street were reopened just after noon.
