JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Kids who participate in sports know the routine. Every year before they play they have to sit down with a medical professional for a physical. But not all parents make their kids health a priority.
"Lack of insurance prevents a lot of parents from getting their kids physicals on an annual basis," says Dr. Soyini McCatty.

Pediatrician Soyini McCatty works at two different UF Health Centers. Usually UF Health offers the free screening for one Saturday in the month of August but this they're adding more days.
"We're trying to expand it to include more days that we can capture more people," says McCatty.
Students who have never been screened will be able to start their medical history here. McCatty can also address medical concerns that might have been ignored, provide follow up care, and provide ways for parents to pay for future care.
"We do have someone that's going to be able to meet with those that are uninsured and try to help them, in the process, of getting some type of coverage, whether it's Medicaid or something else that they may qualify for. So, that's something that will help in the future if we need to have follow up we'll get it done," says McCatty.
It starts next week July 14 and runs until Aug. 30. They're taking appointments at Soutel Plaza on Tuesdays and Thursdays and E.G. Means on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
