2 women arrested for burglarizing home

INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Sheriff's deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office were able to arrest two women who they said were burglarizing a vacant home in Interlachen Thursday afternoon, thanks to a tip from a concerned citizen.

According to police, 43-year-old Yivette Dey and 36-year-old Heather Harrison were arrested for burglary, larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dey was also charged with possession of methamphetamine as well as two warrants for violation of probation.

Officials said the pair's downfall began when a neighbor spotted the women removing items from a vacant house on Compton Street, including a television, DVD player, silverware, toys and other items.

The neighbor called the Sheriff's Office, and the homeowner and deputies arrived at the home to find the two women still carrying belongings out of the house, deputies said.

Dey told deputies that her son had been renting the house and she and Harrison were told that they could remove whatever they wanted from the home.

As the women were talking to police, the homeowner showed up and told police that Dey's son had moved out of the residence over 2 1/2 months ago, and the two women did not have permission to be on the property or in the house.

The items that the women had been taking out of the home were positively identified as belonging to the homeowner.

While they were being arrested, deputies said they found a marijuana pipe in Harrison's purse and methamphetamine in a pack of cigarettes that belonged to Dey.
