In December, police charged 25-year-old Cecil Ford in the killing, and Thursday night, Qortez Goshay, 24, was also charged with murder.

Goshay was brought to the Duval County jail from prison, where he was serving five years for car theft on a 2013 conviction.

After Ford's arrest in December, Morene's mother said she was relieved someone had been charged in her son's death.

When they announced the arrest, police said that in April 2016, during an unrelated murder investigation, detectives contacted a witness who had information about Morene's murder. That tip led them to identify Ford as one of the men who shot Morene during an armed robbery, police said.

Investigators said it appears Ford, who is charged with second-degree murder, went to Morene's home that night to rob him and that it's likely the two were acquainted in some way.

According to the arrest report, Ford and Goshay went to the apartment on the pretense of selling some rims but had planned the robbery and that Ford fired first before Goshay started shooting. Morene was hit multiple times.
