CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Two men are in jail and one man is at large, all charged or wanted on a charge related to incidents in June involving a truck burglary, a battery and the death of a 41-year-old man, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Nathan Ross, 32, and Jarrod Romani, 29, are charged with felony murder in the death of Jason Kent. Ross is being held in the Duval County jail, and Romani is still at large after being released on previous charges.

Deputies said Kent, Ross and Romani stole two chainsaws from Green's truck in June. Deputies said Kent took the chainsaws from the rear of Green's truck, which was parked at a convenience store on U.S. 17 north of Green Cove Springs.

Green, his son and another man witnessed the theft and followed the trio north on U.S. 17, deputies said.

They said a fight took place and Ross and Kent were injured.

Kent was taken by a deputy to the Orange Park Medical Center for treatment of visible injuries prior to booking, but for precautionary reasons the hospital chose to admit him. Kent was later taken from the hospital to UF Health Jacksonville because of his injuries, and the Sheriff's Office was later notified that he had died.

Because a death happened from the commission of a felony, Ross and Romani are charged with murder.

"After lengthy review of all evidence and witness statements by CCSO detectives and State Attorney's Office representatives, the charges against these men are what was determined to be appropriate and applicable," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Kent (pictured above in a previous Jacksonville Sheriff's Office booking photo) had an extensive criminal history, including arrests for grand theft, burglary, dealing in stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
