A-1 Getaway Cars robbed by gunmen Friday night

Palatka store manager robbed by three masked men

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The manager at A-1 Getaway Cars said he was wrapping up from his shift on Friday night and heading out for dinner when he was suddenly starring down the barrel of a handgun.

"I'm on the ground, the gentleman is forcibly pushing his show on the temple of my eye," said Jay, who asked Channel 4 to keep his identity hidden because the robbers have not been caught.

Jay said for a few moments he thought he might be killed.

"He kept saying if someone pulls in this place your dead. If someone pulls up here, you're dead. And then when he went to leave he said 'ooh, ooh, you're lucky',"said Jay. "I don't think that if I hadn't had had the money on me that they would have done more or physically harmed me."

Jay said the three armed, masked robbers were able to take $3,000 from his shop, along with the keys to his business, cell phones and his girlfriend's purse.

"We're throwing everything we have at it right now," said Palatka Police Public Information Officer, David Parsons. "It's under investigation and the detectives are working on it right now as we speak. Anyone with information, we ask that they just call it in and let us know."

Palatka Police can be reached at 386-329-0115 or call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS.
