JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Boy Scouts of America-North Florida Council held an event, the 2017 Jacksonville American Values Dinner, on Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Arena.
The dinner honored two men for their contributions to the organization: attorney Rob Heekin, the vice president of endowment, and Chairman A. Dano Davis, a major donor to Mayo Clinic and he was the principal executive officer of Winn-Dixie stores from 1982 to 1999.

“We are so excited to honor great community pillars like Mr. Davis and Mr. Heekin,” said Patrick Linfors, director of field service for the Boy Scouts of America. “Their legacies of leadership in this community are stellar examples to the 13,000 young people served by Scouting in North Florida.”
Mac Holley, principal at Heritage Capital Group, was the dinner chairman for the night. His co-chairman was Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams.
The event raised about $438,000, Holley said. Last year’s event made about $430,000.
“The American Values Dinner recognizes great people who bring great things to Scouting,” said Mike White, executive board member of the Boy Scouts of America-North Florida Council. “It is even more important in these times to make sure that our youth are exposed to these values that will help them become our future leaders of tomorrow.”
