Car stolen with 11-month-old baby inside, Orange deputies say

Cops: Baby found in abandoned car with high temperature, taken to hospital

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies have released a composite sketch of a man who is suspected of stealing a car with an 11-month-old baby inside, then abandoning the vehicle a mile away, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the boy's father was visiting a couple at the Millennium Pointe Apartment Complex on Barwood Drive when the couple started arguing.

When the father put the boy in the car with the car running and went back inside of the apartment to say he was leaving, the car was stolen, according to deputies.

The father then called 911 and the Toyota Camry was found abandoned a mile away about 90 minutes later at the Summit Apartments on Rio Grande Avenue and 29th Street, deputies said.

Deputies said the boy was locked inside the vehicle with the windows up and was in distress from the hot temperatures. Detectives broke out a window, and the boy was immediately given water, according to the report.

Orange County Fire and Rescue transported the boy to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he received fluids and is in stable condition.

Deputies said they do believe the incident was a random act.

The Sheriff's Office released a composite sketch Wednesday night of the man sought. Deputies described him as black, 25-30 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall and has shoulder-length dreads. He was last seen wearing a red shirt -- possibly a football jersey -- and blue basketball shorts.
