Brakes blamed for CSX train fire in Baldwin

No damage done to goods on board

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Brakes are blamed for a fire that delayed a CSX train in Baldwin Thursday evening.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department received the call just after 8:15 p.m. in reference to a train on fire on Beaver Street and Yellow Water Road.

CSX Director of Media Relations Rob Dolittle said the train was carrying three locomotives and 39 cars which contained standardized crates.

No goods were damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.

The train which was traveling from Winter Haven, Florida continued to its destination a few hours later. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
