Drive-by shooting injures man in Northwest Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man is recovering after being shot in the leg in Northwest Jacksonville Monday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to 3316 Mecca Drive at 9:55 p.m. in reference to a shooting. Police said a man was shot in the leg and a friend transported the him to UF Health with a non-life-threatening injury.

The man was standing outside of his house when a vehicle drove by and shot at him and his cousin, according to JSO.

The man is conscious and is cooperating with detectives, JSO said.

The case will be turned over to the JSO Violent Crimes Task Force.

Police said they do not know if this shooting is gang-related.

No information on the shooter was given.

Anyone with any information on the shooting is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
