JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A driver died Wednesday after driving down a dead end on Branan Field Road and crashing into a concrete barrier, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Police said the vehicle was reported abandoned about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and when officers arrived at the dead end of the 12000 block of Branan Field Road, they found a dead man in the driver's seat of a Volkswagen Jetta.

Officers said there were two large concrete barriers and three red diamond-shaped reflective signs to identify the end of the roadway and to restrict travel onto the Cecil Airport property.
Police said the vehicle traveled down the road at a high rate of speed and slammed into one of the barriers. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
