Family Dollar robber found guilty

Lawrence Bethel III, 33, will be sentenced in June

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found guilty Wednesday of robbing a Family Dollar on the Westside at gunpoint.

Lawrence Austin Bethel III, 33, was convicted of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Bethel entered the Family Dollar on Wilson Boulevard in October 2013 and approached store clerks with a firearm. He was wearing a black wig as a disguise and held the clerks at gunpoint as he demanded money.

He took $210 from the store.

Bethel has prior convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary to a structure or conveyance. He is also awaiting trial in five separate armed robbery cases.

He faces mandatory life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of June 15.
