Female bicyclist seriously hurt in collision with car in Northwest Jacksonville

Police: Driver cooperating with investigation

A woman on a bicycle was seriously injured when she rode in front of a car on Kings Rd. late Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman on a bicycle was taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries after she rode into the path of an on-coming car in Northwest Jacksonville late Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police responded to 2000 King Road at 11:56 p.m. for a crash with injuries involving a bicyclist and a car.

Officers said the car was traveling west on Kings Rd. when the woman on the bike rode into the path of the car from Ella Street. The car hit the woman and the driver stopped at Danson Street. That driver is cooperating with police.

Kings Rd. was blocked for more than three hours while the Traffic Homicide Unit investigated.

Police did not release the name of the bicyclist or the driver of the car.
