Clements died at the scene. Monds and another passenger, 47-year-old Christine Green, suffered serious injuries. Monds was taken to UF Health Jacksonville and Green was taken to Fraser Hospital.

The FHP report said Monds was driving westbound on I-10 just after 1 a.m. and veered right on the westbound shoulder for unknown reasons. The SUV traveled into the tree line, hit a large tree, spun counter-clockwise and hit another tree with the vehicle's left side.

None of the women were wearing seat belts, the FHP said.
