GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott has ordered national and state flags at the the Florida Capitol, along with the Alachua County Courthouse and Gainesville City Hall, to be flown at half staff on Friday to honor a Florida Army National Guardsman killed last week in a crash in Bradford County.
Twenty-year-old Spec. Arandall Ladarrion Shear died after he was ejected from a Humvee that flipped on Jan. 15 while headed north on U.S. Highway 301 near Lawtey.

Shears, from West Point, Ga., was with the 146th Expeditionary Signal Battalion of the Florida Army National Guard based in Gainesville.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Shears was heading north in the left lane of U.S. 301 when he tried to change lanes and lost control. The vehicle went into the grass median and overturned, losing its cargo.
The FHP said the Humvee was en route from Camp Blanding to Jacksonville when it crashed.
