Callahan man killed in crash with tree

Troopers say Mark Vincent Bunkley lost control of his car, hit large tree

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed Saturday afternoon on U.S. 301 when the car he was driving crashed into a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Mark Vincent Bunkley, 34, of Callahan, was driving a Honda Accord north on Highway 301 near Otis Road about 12:20 p.m. when he lost control of the car and crossed into southbound lanes. He traveled north along the shoulder until he hit a large tree.

The car overturned and came to rest on its roof.   Bunkley was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the FHP report, Bunkley was not wearing a seat belt.
