The woman, 61-year-old Linda Ainsworth, had one passenger at the time in her Cadillac. She had been driving in the center lane before she veered to the right, FHP said.

Ainsworth’s vehicle, along with the patrol car, were both heading west on U.S. 90, also known as Beach Boulevard, when it happened about 5:30 p.m., troopers said.

Allan Ford, 31, of Jacksonville Beach, was behind the wheel of a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, a patrol car used by the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, the incident report said.

Ainsworth was cited for an improper lane change, troopers said.
