EAST PALATKA, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says a 3-year-old child was airlifted to UF Health Gainesville after being bit in the head by the family dog.
The Sheriff's Office says the child was at his grandmother's house and was playing with toy trucks on the floor when the dog bit the child.

Authorities say the dog is a pit bull. Animal control responded to the scene. Animal control confiscated and quarantined the dog.
The Sheriff's Office says the child's injuries to his scalp and ear are non-life-threatening.
