2 facing drug, gun charges after warrants served

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two St. Johns County men were arrested on outstanding warrants Wednesday with additional charges stemming from the execution of a search warrant.

The two suspects were identified as Holstead Vince Moody Sr., 42, and Baron Lee Long, 2.

The two were caught at their home with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force and without incident early Wednesday afternoon.

Moody had outstanding arrest warrants for sale of methamphetamine and two counts of sale of heroin with bonds totaling $300,000, as well as a violation of probation warrant with no bond.

Long had an outstanding warrant for one count of sale of heroin with a $100,000 bond.

During the investigation, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant for the men's Avenue B residence.

During the search Wednesday, detectives found trafficking levels of heroin in both Long’s and Moody’s locked rooms. Detectives seized 15 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of over $4,500 and a loaded Glock .45-caliber handgun in Long’s room.

Both Long and Moody are convicted felons with lengthy criminal histories associated with violence in the past.

In addition to the outstanding charges, Moody faces the following charges: trafficking in heroin,
possession with intent to sell cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest with violence, and
maintaining a drug dwelling with a child present. 

Long is also facing the following charges stemming from Wednesday's search warrant: trafficking in heroin, possession of a weapon by convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining drug dwelling with a child present.

The two suspects will have a first appearance hearing Thursday morning.
