Glynn County confirms flu death

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Public Health confirms that a Glynn County man has died of the flu.

While this was the first flu death of this season in Glynn County, it was the third in the Georgia Coastal Health District. The previous two deaths were in the Savannah area. 

There have been a total of 50 confirmed flu-related deaths in Georgia since the beginning of this flu season.

Health officials say that while flu-related illness in Georgia seems to be slowing, it is still not too late to get vaccinated and take everyday precautions to fight getting the flu.

Cover your cough (try to cough into the crook of your elbow, not your hand).
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. If soap and water is not available use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Clean common surfaces like countertops and desks.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth because germs spread this way.
Stay home and away from others when you're sick.

Flu symptoms include Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
