Group holds vigil, march for slain Tampa teens

MAD DADS seeks justice for 2 women murdered, dumped on roadside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The bodies of 19-year-old Angelia Mangum and 18-year-old Tjhisha Ball were found one week ago on the side of a Northside road.

The person who killed them has not been arrested, and Thursday night the local group MAD DADS held a vigil and march in the neighborhood where their bodies were dumped along Sisson Drive.

Those who participated blew out white candles to symbolize peace and hope that justice will soon be served.

The march included a candlelight prayer and a canvass of the neighborhood, during which they passed out fliers to neighbors. Participants also waved down cars hoping that someone knows something about the murders.

"We have two grave concerns here. One, the way it happened, so brutal. But most of all that they left them here and children could have found them," said Donald Foy, president of MAD DADS.

Foy said he's taking the teens' deaths personally.

"We're concerned that this community had to find these two bodies," Foy said. "The individuals who found these two women -- this will be with them for the rest of their lives. Just imagine school children finding them. That's our concern."

MAD DADS was joined by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and other community members, who said the murders hit home.

Last year, one of Susan Singer's young family members was murdered, and that case also remains unsolved.

"I know how it feels," Singer said. "When people are there for us, it means a lot, and this family they're out of town, so there is no one here. So we waned to come speak up for these girls and try to get answers, because we know what it's like to not have answers."

And Singer said Jacksonville needs to speak up and speak out.

"I'm outraged," Singer said. "All those murders and we need to do something. People need to tell what they know. They know. They do know."

Anyone with any information about the murders is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
