Jacksonville man claims $1 million scatch-off prize

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fernando Goncalves, 39, of Jacksonville, claimed a $1 million top prize in the $10 Monopoloy™ Millionaire scratch-off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Goncalves chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $819,993.58, according to Florida Lottery officials.

Goncalves purchased his winning scratch-off ticket from Shell at 11330 Beach Blvd. The retailer received a bonus commission of $2,000 for selling the $1 million winning ticket.

Monopoly is the most popular licensed game offered by the Florida Lottery. Since 1996, Monopoly scratch-off games have generated nearly $900 million for Florida's students and schools.
