JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 25-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Friday with a 60-year minimum mandatory for one count of second-degree murder, one count of first-degree attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery, authorities said.

Demarcus Sharod Johnson, 25, was convicted of the charges last month, state attorneys said.

In April 2009 Johnson, Deshawn Green and Eric Andrews drove by a home on West 13th Street and fired several shots into the home before fleeing the scene, authorities said.

Inside, 23-year-old Bryan James Clemons was fatally struck by gunfire. State attorneys said 30-year-old Bobby Eady was also shot, but later recovered from his injuries.

The investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from an earlier incident in which one of the victims threw a drink in Andrews' face while at a local nightclub, state attorneys said.

The intended target, 23-year-old Ryan Williams, was not hurt during the shooting, but was later killed during another incident, officials said.

Johnson also pleaded guilty this week to charges of violation of racketeering laws and conspiracy to violate RICO for his involvement in a Grand Park gang. State attorneys said Johnson was sentenced to five years in prison in the case.
