JFRD: 1 critical after being pulled from Huguenot Park surf

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his 30s was pulled from the surf at Huguenot Park on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

Witnesses said the man was swimming with a group of people when lifeguards noticed he was in trouble and rushed to help. A nursing student who was at the park with her boyfriend told News4Jax she ran over to see if she could help. She said they were using a defibrillator on the man's chest.

The victim was rushed to Baptist Nassau, where he was reported in critical condition. His name was not released.

Red flags are still up along this and other area beaches due to rough surf and a high risk of rip currents.
