JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men and a boy were shot in the Grand Park area of Jacksonville on Monday night, and one of them was in critical condition, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

At least four shots were fired in the incident, which took place at West 18th and Division streets, police said. Police said it appears the victims knew each other.

Detectives were investigating the shooting and several blocks were cordoned off with crime scene tape and there was heavy police presence in the area. A K-9 unit and helicopter were at the scene, along with multiple crime scene unit vans.

"At this point it's just a matter of going through the neighborhood and locating witnesses here, and then we'll move on to UF Health to see what the victims can tell us," said Sgt. Michael Paul with JSO Homicide.

A witness told News4Jax she was picking up her nephew from Pop Warner football practice around 7:30 p.m. at Scott Park off Cleveland Road, a few blocks from the crime scene, when she heard four rapid-fire gunshots. She said 30-40 children were at the park at the time, and all the families scrambled when they heard the shots.

The scene is only 50 yards from the Johnnie Walker Community Center, where 14-year-old James Thomas was shot and killed in July.
