Tarpon Springs Police Officer Charles Kondek was responding to a 911 on Dec. 21 call when he was shot by Marco Parilla Jr., investigators said. He died at the hospital.

The gun used in the crime was stolen during a car burglary in Jacksonville, police said.

On Aug. 5, 2014 between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., multiple vehicles were burglarized on Wind Cave Lane, according to JSO.

JSO released a video Monday that police said shows a man who appears to be trying to get into a car in the Bartram Springs neighborhood in August. The car was locked, however, and nothing was taken from it.

But the gun used to kill Kondek was stolen from a car in the same neighborhood on the same night, police said.
