JSO: Man armed with gun robs Westside bank

Atlantic Coast Bank on Normandy Boulevard robbed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man armed with a gun robbed a bank Thursday on Normandy Boulevard near Chateau Drive on the city's Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. 

Authorities said the Atlantic Coast Bank at 8048 Normandy Blvd. was robbed about 9:45 a.m. by a man who showed the teller a handgun in his waistband before demanding money.

The teller complied and the man left the area on foot and headed east, police said.

No customers were in the bank at the time and no injures were reported, JSO said.

Witnesses told police the robber was a black man in his late 20s, about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark-colored pants

Detectives released a surveillance image to help identify the robber and track him down.

This is the third bank robbery of the year in Jacksonvile. There were 12 in 2016.
